Arnish Development
Isle of Lewis
Client | Stornoway Port Authority
Year | 2010
The area of Arnish was originally developed with little thought of the environment and with an overriding aim of getting the maximum economic benefit out of the industrial site which is pushed into the far side of Stornoway's Harbour.
The site is vast, reduced to a flat barren wind-swept area which is alien in scale in relation to people. Local identity has been dissolved resulting in an industrial site which could be anywhere.
This proposal aimed to break-up the site into smaller areas and buildings which interpret the once rolling landscape.
